Questions we get asked a lot about Aerial Drone Application

Questions we get asked a lot about Aerial Drone Application

Let's Buzz Through Some FAQs on Drone Application! Here are some of the most frequent questions we are asked by growers about aerial drone application.

What chemicals can you spray?

Fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and nutrients with an aerial application rating between 1 and 10 gallons per acre

What size field can you treat?

We spray 30+ acres per hour or 600+ acres per day (if the weather cooperates).

How much does it cost to have a drone spray a field?

$20 an acre is typical, but prices vary between $16 and $25 depending on the chemicals used and complexity of the job.

Can you spot spray?

Yes! We spot spray pasture and rangeland all the time.

Can you perform variable treatments?

Yes. In fact we can perform a multispectral analysis of your crops, identify problem areas, and spot or variable rate treat the field to save chemical costs and improve yields.

Why wouldn’t I just use a ground rig?

Drones have the following benefits:

·       No soil compaction

·       No need to dry out the field

·       Can treat mature crops without breaking or bending stalks

·       No need to move irrigation equipment

·       More efficient for smaller fields

Why wouldn’t I just use an airplane?

Drones have the following benefits:

·       Higher precision. Drones fly at 5cm accuracy, reducing drift and improving coverage

·       No complaints near houses. With drones the neighbors don’t even know you are there, much less call the police.

·       Safety. Drones can spray fields where powerlines and cell towers prevent planes and helicopters from flying safely.
